Biography

Storyteller, Marketer, and Social Impact Producer, Dolly Turner is an award winning Producer and CEO of Turner Ventures, a production, marketing, and social impact company, and Director of The Blackhouse Foundation’s Multicultural Producers Fellowship.

Dolly’s credits include United Skates (HBO), Emmy nominee for Best Arts & Culture Documentary, winner National Museum of African American History and Culture Film Festival Best Documentary, and Tribeca Film Festival Audience Award; Alone (NY Times Op-Docs), Winner Sundance Grand Jury Prize for non-fiction short and Oscar’s Short List; 25 to Life (Netflix) winner ABFF Grand Jury Prize for Best Documentary, and Maynard (Netflix), Pan African Film Festival Best Documentary Director. She secured US distribution for South Africa’s Otelo Burning (Netflix, Amazon, iTunes) as well as developing marketing and outreach campaigns for Finding Fela, Free Angela and All Political Prisoners, and is currently producing a virtual screening series and social impact campaign for HBO’s Apollo Theater documentary. She is currently in production on The Best of Friends, Purvis Young, Young Purvis, and Rebirth of the Griots (The R.O.G. Project).

Dolly programs the Da Bounce Urban Film Festival in Amsterdam, is Director of the Blackhouse Multicultural Producers Fellowship, Board Member of The Blackhouse Foundation, and frequently serves as a speaker and juror, including the 2020 Emmy Awards. Previously she held senior strategic marketing, partnership and business development roles with the American Black Film Festival, South Asian International Film Festival, USA Network, and the truth campaign. In addition, she was a label marketing executive, talent manager, and Film & TV music publisher for Grammy award winning artists. Dolly has developed marketing and events for Fortune 100 brands including Target, Cadillac, Lincoln, HBO, TNT, BET, Universal Pictures, HSBC, Citibank, and more. She began her career as a commercial banker financing media companies.
