Biography
MATT JOHNSON is an award-winning writer/director/producer with a broad range of work in theatre, radio, television and film. In addition to his direction of over fifty stage productions, his credits include work on the TV
shows League Of Legends, The Voice, The Grammy Awards, Jeopardy, Wheel Of Fortune, NBC London Olympics, and many commercials with Deutsch LA – including national spots for Volkswagen, Dr.Pepper, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, Target and Snapple. He has written and directed ten films, as well as creating the original radio drama series New Frequency for Sirius Satellite Radio and iTunes with over 100 original episodes produced. Previous films include Manipede, Butterflies, True Fiction, Final Call, The Goth Next Door, Chalk, and the critically-acclaimed festival darling and Oscar-qualified short Texas. In partnership with Bruce Willis and Weimar Pictures Germany, he wrote and produced the feature film documentary Bruce Willis: Why The Legend Never Dies, which opened the Berlin Film Festival. He is currently the Creator and Showrunner of the paranormal thriller series By Night: Origins airing on Amazon, the Supervising Producer and Head Writer for Kitten Bowl and Cat Bowl on Hallmark Channel, and the Executive Producer and Creator of the upcoming docu-series Spirits Of The Game. Upcoming scripted projects include the original series The Resurrectionists, El Verdugo and Rednecks as well as the feature films The Resurrection Of Lawford Bertolucci, Gold Rush and The Nesting Doll. A native Texan, Matt’s education includes studies and degrees at The University of Texas and The Royal National Theatre of London. He is a member of the Producers Guild Of America, The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, and the current the Co-Chair of the PGA’s
prestigious Power Of Diversity Master Workshop.
