Biography
Tracy “Twinkie” Byrd is a near 30-year veteran in the industry as a Casting Director on such films as “Stomp the Yard,” “Notorious,” “Fruitvale Station,” “Sparkle,” “Southside with You” and most recently “BEATS” on Netflix. She has embarked on new ventures (she calls it lane changing) as a Director/Producer and Author.
Her SANKOFA style Directorial Debut, The Counter: 1960 received Standing Ovations at MVAAFF, Pan African Film Festival; and the Power of She Film Festival. She co-wrote “The Counter:1960″ alongside Rev. Jesse Jackson’s teenage daughter Ashley and co-produced it with Kim Ogletree. Twinkie also directed two episodes of the web series “God Complex” for Amazon Prime and a music video for Billboard recording artist Drew Vision. Twinkie recently served as Executive Producer on “Unwrapping Christmas” for Lifetime/A&E Studios.
Twinkie’s latest venture “Channeling Becky” by Kindle Publishing is a book based on a collection of Facebook Blog entries. Her funny yet focused take on Dating in the new Millennium” in Hollywood, covering everything from Mental Health, Self-Love and Self-Care will change your life.
